Calendula Oil: The Daily Moisturizer
Calendula Oil: The Daily Moisturizer
This organic Calendula Oil is the essential lightweight moisturizer, particularly for those with sensitive, dry or irritated skin.
Soothing and slightly moving, it's indispensable after prolonged exposure to the sun, harsh winds, or any environment that challenges the skin.
And with calendula's lymphatic support, it also makes a fantastic massage oil for the breasts and other more private skin areas.
Each spring and early summer, our gardeners transplant nearly 1,000 Calendula seedlings, grown from seed in the greenhouse.
From late June through September, they hand-harvest hundreds of pounds of these brilliantly orange flower blossoms from their Biodynamic garden rows.
Calendula flowers need to be collected every two to three days, ideally on sunny days after the dew has dried.
They gently snap the leaf stem at the base of each flower and carefully place them in their baskets. Their hands become sticky from the resin for which Calendula is famous. But this continuous picking keeps the plants producing flowers until the fall frost.
Right after harvest, the flowers are immediately gentle-dried in Deb's custom dehydrator. Then they're infused in organic olive oil for 2 weeks, creating this vibrant, potent, amber-colored oil.
When to reach for it:
As a lightweight daily moisturzier. As extra support for dry, sensitive or irritated skin.
For breast and other lymphatic massage.
After all environmental challenges that challenge the skin.
As a gentle facial oil.
During diaper changes.
Ingredients:
- Biodynamic dried Calendula flowers (Calendula officinalis)
- Organic olive oil
Suggested Use:
A wonderful lightweight daily moisturizer. Great as a facial oil and even better as a breast oil.
For external use only.
The Calendula Daily Moisturizer Is Part Of Our Avena Collection
The Avena Collection is perhaps the purest skin and body care blends American soil has to offer.
They're based on botanicals regeneratively grown & wild-harvested on Maine's first certified Biodynamic farm.
From seed to harvest to infusion to jar, everything is done by hand.
In the Spring, our farmer-partner plants her seeds following biodynamic, regenerative and mixed polyculture principles (which go way beyond "organic").
She keeps the plants tightly spaced, applying minimal (organic) fertilizer and irrigation. This makes it harder and slower for the plants to grow. And that's the point. They become more potent, which your nose & skin will verify as soon as you open your jar, inhale the glory, and apply.
Meanwhile, the humming birds, butterflies and bees fill the garden with all sorts of color, sounds and personalities. Her farming efforts are regenerating not just the land, but all the critical pollinators as well.
Throughout the growing season, she hand-harvests only the best parts of the plants and only at peak potency. Then she immediately infuses them at low temperatures into organic oils to preserve their botanical benefits.
Finally, the infusions are blended and packed on-site, ready to deliver the most potent & pure skin care American soil can offer.
The first time you open & apply your product -- when you see & smell how whole-plant blends were meant to be -- is always a special moment.
And as you put it on, you'll feel that difference, too.
Enjoy!
